ABOUT Amy VERMEULEN, B.Sc. CSCS
Amy hails from the prairies, with the majority of her childhood spent growing up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She was involved in a number of sports, primarily hockey and soccer, and worked her way onto both junior provincial and national teams before embarking on a rare, two sport, NCAA hockey and soccer scholarship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During this time she not only earned a B.Sc. degree in Biology, but she also finished 3rd in all-time career points for soccer, and helped the hockey team make their very first NCAA appearance. Along with a successful college sports career, Amy was a starter on the legendary 2002 U19 World Cup team, and helped contribute to the team placing 2nd in front of 50,000 fans in Edmonton at the U19 World Cup event.
Amy continued on her soccer path, playing for the semi-pro Ottawa Fury and Vancouver Whitecaps, and then professionally in both the top Swedish and Norwegian leagues. She successfully earned her first cap with the senior Canadian National Team in 2006, and then proceeded to play for Canada as the years went on. Her hard work over the years paid off, as she was fortunate enough to be a part of the bronze medal winning 2007 Pan-Am Games Team in Brazil. Her career was then highlighted when she was named as an alternate for the 2008 Olympic Team in China, where she joined her Canadian Women’s Soccer squad as they made history; competing in the Olympics for the very first time.
Amy currently resides in Vancouver, BC, and is still a dominating force for the W-League Vancouver Whitecaps. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the highly credible National Strength and Conditioning Association. Along with this certification, she uses both her B.Sc. degree and her extensive hockey and soccer experience as tools to help individuals achieve their specific goals. Her experience ranges from high performance athletes, to the general public and youth, confirming Amy’s belief that no matter the age and fitness level, anybody has the ability to exceed their own expectations. Amy continues to educate herself with ongoing fitness workshops and seminars, and strives to learn something new everyday. She has always been extremely grateful and inspired by those that have helped her get to where she is in life, and hopes that with CREST Strength and Conditioning, she can help others work towards their dreams, and make them a reality.
