When it comes to accomplishments
and accolades, Jen Dowdeswell is
all too familiar. Jen has competed
at the highest level of her sports
her entire life and she brings those
same qualities to our team, here
at Studeo 55.
In
her time at UBC, Jen earned a degree
in Human Kinetics with a minor in
Commerce. In her graduating year,
Jen was awarded one of the Top Twenty
UBC Undergraduate Awards for academics,
athletics and service. She was also
recognized as one of the Top Ten
Academic All-Canadian Athletes across
Canada.
Athletically,
Jen found her talents in table tennis
and field hockey. In the former
of the two, she rose through the
Canadian rankings achieving second
best in the nation, while her field
hockey endeavours landed her a spot
with the Canadian Junior and Senior
National Teams. While focusing on
her education, Jen also played field
hockey for the Thunderbirds. In
her five years playing at UBC she
was voted co-captain in her 3rd,
4th and 5th years leading the team
to two national championships. In
her graduating year, Jen was given
the prestigious award of University
Female Athlete of the Year to cap
off an already solid university
sports career.
To
show Jens true diversity and zest
for life, she has worked as a captain
of a commercial prawn fishing boat
in which she has done seasonally
for the last few years. Jen also
strives to find avenues of betterment
through her involvement with Leadership
Vancouver, her coaching workshops
and lastly, her public speaking
events.
